This guide is about the first one.

Why the Riviera rewards a boat more than anywhere
The South of France has an unusual geography problem: everything worth reaching is on the coast, and the coast is a single road. In August that road is the difference between lunch at one and lunch at three. From the water, Cannes to the Lérins is twenty minutes, and Pampelonne is a beach you anchor off rather than a car park you fight for.
There is a second, less romantic reason. Riviera charters are priced for the deck and for the season — a good boat on a good Saturday in July is a serious number, and it is the same number whether four people board or twelve. That is precisely the gap yacht sharing exists to close: the same boat, the same crew, the same day, paid for by everyone standing on it.
A boat with nowhere to land is a half day. A beach club bed with no way to arrive is a taxi and a queue.

Saint-Tropez starts on the water and works backwards.
