Salsa on the water.

The club's most sociable format, and the one that draws the widest age range. Programmed at sunset with room cleared on the aft deck. Recorded rather than live, unless a host arranges otherwise.

150–250 (roughly 90 in dance time) BPM · Cuba and New York, 1960s–70s

SplitClub has programmed 4 salsa days across Miami. The club arranges the vessel and the crew and programs the music; a vetted group claims the places and the cost of the day is split across the deck.

The sound

Live-band music built on clave, montuno piano and a full brass section. Salsa is played rather than produced, and it is the only genre the club programs where most of the room can actually dance to it properly rather than approximately.

Salsa in Miami

Salsa is Miami's inherited music. Little Havana never stopped playing it, Ball & Chain on Calle Ocho has been a live salsa room for decades, and the city's Cuban, Puerto Rican and Colombian communities each keep a distinct style of it alive. Miami is one of very few US cities where salsa is social music rather than a class you take.

How the club programs it

The club's most sociable format, and the one that draws the widest age range. Programmed at sunset with room cleared on the aft deck. Recorded rather than live, unless a host arranges otherwise.

Every SplitClub day works the same way underneath the music. The club arranges one vessel for one date, with its captain and crew, and programs the route, the hours and the sound. Members claim single places rather than hiring a boat. Contributions are held through our state-of-the-art payment processing system until the day is fully funded — if it does not fill, it does not sail and nobody is charged.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to dance salsa?

No, and most of the deck usually does not. It is programmed as a social day rather than a dance class.

Is there live music?

Standard club salsa days are DJ-led. A live band is possible on a member-hosted day, and the club will source it as part of building the day.

What does a salsa day cost?

It moves with the vessel and the date, and each day's activity contribution is on the day's card in the app before you confirm.

SplitClub is application-only in every city. The guest list is the product, so vetting is the gate rather than price. Apply for membership →
