Music · House and its subgenres

Latin House on the water.

The club's bilingual format. Programmed in Spanish and English, and one of the days most likely to fill from the club's Latina membership. Runs as a long afternoon with the tempo lifting into sunset.

122–128 BPM · New York and Miami, 1990s

SplitClub has programmed 3 latin house days across Miami. The club arranges the vessel and the crew and programs the music; a vetted group claims the places and the cost of the day is split across the deck.

The sound

House with Latin percussion in the foreground — timbales, congas and clave patterns cut against a four-on-the-floor kick, usually with Spanish-language vocals. Miami and New York both have a genuine claim to it, and it never really left either city.

Latin House in Miami

This is arguably Miami's own dance genre. The city's Cuban, Colombian, Venezuelan and Puerto Rican populations kept Latin percussion in the DNA of local house production through the 1990s, and the result is a sound that reads as native here in a way imported techno never quite does.

How the club programs it

The club's bilingual format. Programmed in Spanish and English, and one of the days most likely to fill from the club's Latina membership. Runs as a long afternoon with the tempo lifting into sunset.

Every SplitClub day works the same way underneath the music. The club arranges one vessel for one date, with its captain and crew, and programs the route, the hours and the sound. Members claim single places rather than hiring a boat. Contributions are held through our state-of-the-art payment processing system until the day is fully funded — if it does not fill, it does not sail and nobody is charged.

Frequently asked questions

Are Latin house days in Spanish or English?

Both. The club programs the day bilingually, and the room is usually a mix. Sol, Playa y Arena and Chicas de Belleza are the club's Spanish-first days.

Is Latin house the same as reggaeton?

No. Latin house is four-on-the-floor dance music with Latin percussion; reggaeton is built on the dembow rhythm and is closer to hip hop in structure. The club runs both.

Where do Latin house days sail?

Miami days run Biscayne Bay with a swim stop. The club has also programmed Latin nights out of Little Havana as an evening skyline format.
