Music · Everything else the club runs

Drum & Bass on the water.

Programmed on request. Runs late and loud, and the liquid end of the genre works considerably better on open water than jungle does.

170–180 BPM · London, early 1990s

Drum & Bass is programmed on request rather than sitting on the fixed calendar. A member or a host proposes a date, and SplitClub sources the vessel, the crew and the sound around it — the cost of the day is then split across the group that claims the places.

The sound

Breakbeats at double tempo over a half-time sub-bass, so it reads as both extremely fast and quite slow at once. Liquid drum and bass is the melodic, vocal end of it; jungle is the rawer original form.

Drum & Bass in Miami

Drum and bass has a small, committed Miami following concentrated in the downtown and Wynwood rooms, and it appears reliably on III Points lineups. It is a scene rather than a mainstream sound in this city.

Every SplitClub day works the same way underneath the music. The club arranges one vessel for one date, with its captain and crew, and programs the route, the hours and the sound. Members claim single places rather than hiring a boat. Contributions are held through our state-of-the-art payment processing system until the day is fully funded — if it does not fill, it does not sail and nobody is charged.

Frequently asked questions

Does SplitClub run drum and bass days?

On request rather than on the fixed calendar. It is usually member-proposed.

Is it too fast for a boat?

The liquid and vocal end of the genre works well. The harder end is programmed later in the day.

What system does it need?

The same low-end-capable setup the club specs for techno and hip hop days.

SplitClub is application-only in every city. The guest list is the product, so vetting is the gate rather than price. Apply for membership →
