The sound
West African pop — syncopated percussion, a light and open mix, melodic vocals in English, Pidgin, Yoruba or Twi, and an unhurried swing that never quite lands on the beat. Not to be confused with Fela Kuti's Afrobeat, which is a different and older thing entirely.

Afrobeats has grown fast in Miami on the back of a large West African and Caribbean diaspora and the genre's global chart run over the last five years. It shows up across Miami's Caribbean and Afro-Latin rooms and increasingly on mainstream festival lineups in the city.
How the club programs it
Programmed as a day party rather than a sunset format — earlier departure, longer swim stop, tempo held steady. Frequently run as a combined Afrobeats and Amapiano day.

No. Afrobeat with no S is Fela Kuti's 1970s Nigerian big-band funk. Afrobeats with an S is contemporary West African pop. The club programs the latter.
