Museum sails from Pier 16, Seaport
1885 Schooner Pioneer: an 1885 schoonerstill under sail
The South Street Seaport Museum runs public sails aboard the 1885 schooner Pioneer, a National Register-listed vessel, out of Pier 16. Daytime and sunset sails take guests through New York Harbor past the Brooklyn Bridge, Governors Island, and the Statue of Liberty, with guests invited to help raise a sail. The sailing season runs May through October; the 2026 season had ended as of this research, reopening in 2027.
